About Me

Hello there! My name is Emily R Ward. I am a humble storyteller and creator based out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Though I hail from very domestic beginnings, travel and adventure adorn the majority of my life, due in part to my Ecuadorian heritage from my mother’s side.

Since a young age, my imagination roared in a constant influx, creating stories, characters, worlds, monsters, pantheons, and cultures that had no place to call home other than my little head. Then, when I was 10 years of age, I discovered C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia accompanied by the fantastical illustrations of Pauline Baynes which gave life to the world of Narnia. Reading did not come easy to me, due in part to a then, undiagnosed form of autism. Illustrations, such as those of Baynes’, stimulated my fatigued mind, and inspired me forward through the world of Narnia. From that day forward, I vowed to become a writer, but I desired so much more than that. I yearned to breathe life into my creations, give them a form, and let them live their own lives… Except, I couldn’t draw well. Thus, I taught myself to draw, and I’ve been learning ever since.

I did not teach myself everything, though. I acquired my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Millersville University back in 2016, concentrating in Graphic Design, but in truth more practiced in Printmaking. I do not look at my time at Millersville with fondness, but my time in that program instilled a spirit of determination that always pushes on improvement and perseverance. Since my time at Millersville, I volunteer at LCBC (Lives Changed By Christ) Church on a regular basis, offering my talents for set construction and backdrop painting for our yearly series, At the Movies. I also work on my own comics, design characters and creatures, and paint in my free time.
